This is a fan-fic I wrote a while ago for a friend. It is based on Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Enjoy!
Lestat easily lifted the dead woman's body into the dumpster. He dusted his hands together as if he had just completed a good day's work. He practically skipped past Louis out of the alley.
He strolled down the moon-lit side-walk with Louis by his side. Ahead there was a young woman with long black hair sitting on a bench. Lestat stopped.
"You want a girl tonight, Louis?" He put a hand on Louis' shoulder. Louis shook his head and brushed Lestat's hand off.
"I'll take her, then."
Louis groaned. "Just leave her alone," he said. "You've already fed twice tonight." Lestat ignored him and strode up to the woman. He sat beside her and she looked over at him.
Lestat smiled at her. "You seemed lonely," he said kindly. "And as if you were lost. My name is Lestat."
The woman returned his smile. "I'm Lilith," she said.
"Would you like some company?"
"Sure."
Louis watched them from the shadows of a building. He watched Lestat flirt with Lilith. Eventually she looked worriedly into the distance.
"I don't think she's coming," she said. She looked to Lestat. "My friend... she was going to pick me up here an hour ago." Lestat nodded and smiled at her sympathetically.
"You could stay with me for the night," he offered.
"That would be nice." In her mind Lilith laughed. 'I can't believe he bought that,' she thought.
They got to their feet and went back to Lestat and Louis' home. When they arrived Louis had already retired to his coffin.
Lilith walked in and a familiar scent hit her nose. That of vampires like her. Lestat put a hand on her shoulder and the scent grew stronger. 'He's a vampire,' she thought. 'How did I not notice before?'
She turned on him and grabbed him by the throat as he was about to bite her. She laughed at the puzzled look on his face.
"I can't believe neither of us could tell the other is a vampire," she said.
Lestat stared at her for a moment, but then smiled. He grabbed her wrist and pulled her hand away from his throat.
"Well," he said. "This is interesting."
"I thought you were human," she said, a bit embarrassed.
"As did I." He glanced at out the window. "It is nearing dawn. You can still stay here for the day, if you want."
She nodded. "I'd like that."
Lestat smiled at her. He liked her. She had managed to make him think she was human. It impressed him.
He showed her to his room. Lestat walked to his coffin and pulled open the lid.
"You can sleep in here with me," he said as he climbed in. Lilith nodded and joined him.
Lestat fell asleep long before Lilith, but sleep eventually claimed her.
The next night Lilith left, but she and Lestat kept meeting each other. Lestat was falling for her, plain and simple. Louis didn't trust her, but if she made Lestat happy...
This went on for weeks. One night Lilith and Lestat came back to their house carrying a black coffin. When Louis saw this, his eyes narrowed.
"Now she's living with us?" he growled.
"Yes," Lestat replied with a hostile edge to his voice. He and Lilith set the coffin in his room. He kissed her. "I need to talk with Louis, dear," he said, love filling his voice.
She smiled and nodded. "I'll be waiting for you," she said as she walked into the room. Lestat closed the door behind her. He turned to Louis and his face darkened.
"What problem do you have with Lilith?" he growled.
Louis took a step backward. "I-I just don't trust her," he stammered.
Lestat moved so he was right in front of Louis. "Why?"
Fear filled Louis. "I d-don't know," he whispered. "I j-just don't."
Lestat grabbed Louis by the throat and dragged him out the back door. He slammed Louis against a tree. He struggled to free himself of Lestat's grip, but couldn't.
"Lestat," he choked out. "Please."
Lestat threw him to the ground and kicked him in the side. There was a sharp crack and Louis cried out in pain.
"Lestat, stop!" he begged.
But he didn't stop. He picked Louis up again and threw him back down. Louis whimpered as he hit the ground and screamed in pain as Lestat stomped on his arm, breaking it.
Lestat turned from him and walked back in the house. He stopped in the door. "Leave," he told Louis. With that he walked inside, leaving Louis, broken and weeping on the ground.
As tears ran down his face he shakily stood, cradling his broken arm. He walked awhile, trying to stop the flow of tears. As he reached an old abandoned house he stopped. The sun was beginning to rise, and he took shelter in it.
Louis lay on the cold floor, shivering without his coffin. Sleep soon overcame him and he slipped into its sweet embrace.
Louis woke the next night, his wounds healed. He stood and went to leave the house. From behind him came a voice.
"Are you alright, Louis?" Lilith asked. Louis spun around; somewhat startled that she was there. She got up from the chair she was sitting in and walked over to him.
"I saw what he did to you," she said. "I came and found you, just to make sure you're okay."
Louis nodded. "I'm fine, thank you." He walked out the front door. Lilith walked by his side, but they didn't speak. They soon arrived at their home. Lilith walked in first. Louis hesitated in the entrance.
"He's not here," she assured him. Louis walked in, closing the door behind him. Lilith sat in a chair. She sighed.
"He really loves me," she said to Louis. "Doesn't he?" She looked up at him.
"It seems so," he replied.
Lilith laughed a high, cruel laugh and shook her head. "Oh, his heart is going to break good."
Louis stared at her in utter shock and disbelief. He may not have trusted her, but h never expected anything like this. "You don't love him?"
Lilith smiled and stood in front of him. "No, I don't. I'm just here to have my fun, and then I'll be leaving."
Louis glared at her. "How could you do that to him?"
Lilith wrapped her arms around him. "It's fun, and it amuses me. But it is you, my dear Louis, that really interests me."
Louis tried to break out of her embrace, but she tightened her grip and wouldn't let him go. She gently kissed him.
"I won't hurt you," she promised.
He looked into her eyes. "Why should I believe you? Give me a reason."
"No reason. Just trust me." The lies slipped easily off her tongue as she hugged him closer.
Louis shut his eyes and returned her hug. "Okay." Suddenly Lestat walked through the door. He glared at Louis.
"What's going on here," he growled.
Lilith's eyes widened and she pushed Louis away from her. She went to Lestat and clung to his side. "He just grabbed me," she said. Louis gaped at her and stared at her as Lestat glared at him.
"Outside," he growled. "Now."
Louis stood his ground as Lestat walked toward him.
"She's lying," he said. "That witch doesn't love you."
Lestat roughly grabbed Louis by the arm and dragged him outside. He threw him to the ground. "How dare you talk like that about her!"
As Lestat brought his foot down on Louis' chest, Louis caught his foot and threw him away from him. Staggering to his feet, Louis tried to convince Lestat of Lilith's treachery.
"Please," he begged. "I'm telling the truth. Believe me."
Lestat got to his feet and kicked Louis in the chest, knocking him to the ground.
"I will never believe your lies," he spat. He stepped on Louis' leg and pressed down hard. There was a loud snap and Louis screamed in pain.
"Lestat," he cried through his tears. "Please, just read her thoughts, you'll see the truth."
Lestat ignored his words and kicked him once more in the side. He stood over Louis as tears rolled down his face.
"You're lucky that's all you got," he said. He turned on his heel and went back inside. Louis looked up at the window that looked out. Lilith was there, a smirk on her face. She walked away from the window.
Louis crawled over to a tree and used it to push himself up. His leg was already healing, but he walked with a limp. Louis wandered for hours, hunting along the way, which sped his recovery. It was just a few hours until dawn, and pouring down rain, when he saw Lilith and Lestat walking hand in hand down the street. Lestat walked past Louis without even a glance, but Lilith stopped before him.
She put a hand on Louis' shoulder and kissed him right in front of Lestat. He gaped at them as Louis recoiled from Lilith's touch.
"Don't touch me, you witch," he snapped. Lilith chuckled and turned to Lestat as he stared at her.
"Looks like someone was telling the truth," she said. She walked up to Lestat and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"W-why?" he asked. "Lilith, I love you."
She smiled in the same sympathetic way that Lestat had when they first met. "I know," she said. With that she walked away. Once she had made a good enough distance, she changed into her owl form and flew away.
Lestat stared at the ground, the rain mingling with his tears. He looked up at Louis with tear-filled eyes.
"Louis," he whispered. "P-please, forgive me." Louis just stared at him.
"No," he said and began to walk away. Lestat fell to his knees making a pleading motion with his hands.
"L-Louis," he cried. "P-please..." He rested his head in his hands, weeping. He shook, both from his tremendous misery and the cold of the rain. Louis turned and looked at him. He couldn't stay angry at Lestat, not when he was like this. He had never cried like this before.
Louis knelt before him and lifted his chin so that their eyes met. "I forgive you," he whispered.
Relief flooded Lestat's eyes. Louis pulled the weeping Lestat up and led him through the rain back to their home. Lestat could barely stand, so Louis had to support him. When they walked through the door, Lestat almost collapsed. Louis just barely caught him.
Once Lestat was back on his feet he staggered into his room. He looked at Lilith's coffin, tears still streaking his face. Rage and grief filled him. He picked it up and threw it out of his room. It smashed into pieces on the wall. Lestat climbed into his coffin and cried himself to sleep.
